North Tyneside Dance Festival

On 7th March 2013, 20 pupils from Key Stage 2 took to the stage to perform at the annual North Tyneside Dance Festival.  They represented our school in a non-competitive festival where schools from across North Tyneside come together to perform and celebrate Contemporary Dance.

This year’s theme was ‘Northern Roots’.  The children choreographed the Dance themselves, choosing two traditional songs which represent the North East.  They designed a jig to Blaydon Races which had the whole audience clapping and singing along as the children danced.  The second song, a ballad called The Waters of Tyne, provided a contrast and saw the children move as if to the ebb and flow of the tide of the Tyne which reflected the calm mood of the music.

The festival was organised by the team who run the PE and School Sport Coordinator Programme in North Tyneside.  They have commented, “We just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support for the Dance Festival. We understand the amount of time and effort that goes into the performances and organisation for each school, so again well done for all your efforts. I’m sure you will agree that all of the performances were fantastic”.
