Helping Your Child:

Dear Parents / Carers,

At Hadrian Park Primary School we ensure the maths teaching your child receives is closely matched to their needs. We teach topics termly and regularly revisit topics, sometimes in detail, sometimes as reminders, so that your child becomes confident with the maths and the strategies they need to make progress.

We value the continued support you give to your child with their homework. As well as completing set homework, it is also important to include maths in everyday conversations so that your child can learn through the things you do with them every day. This is often the best kind of learning as it is fun, meaningful and your child doesn’t realise they are actually learning.

To support this we have put together a booklet with ideas for incidental maths that you can do when you are at home or out and about with your child. They provide the kind of everyday opportunities which will allow you to revisit areas of maths in an informal way rather than sitting down at a table and answering mathematical questions. Please try some of these ideas with your child and let us know how you get on.

Thank you,
Miss Martin (Maths Co-ordinator)
