Lower Key Stage 2 visit to the Great North Museum

Years 3 and 4 visited the Great North Museum on 16th September to link with our topic of Ancient Egypt. We really enjoyed the 'Mummies Unwrapped' workshop - some of use even got chance to remove organs from the body of the mummification doll.

We found out which objects people were buried with and why the Egyptians believed their body must be preserved for their journey to the Afterlife. We learnt about different sorts of evidence, such as x-rays and CAT scans, used by historians to build up a picture of the practices and beliefs of the ancient Egyptians.

We also spent time in other exhibitions in the museum, including the Romans, the Greeks, life in the sea and dinosaurs.

Thank you to all the parents who came with us.
