Great North Museum

Year 3 and 4 pupils visited the Great North Museum during February to find out more about our space topic.  We enjoyed a ‘Mission to Mars’ workshop, where we learned lots of facts about travelling through space.  We thought about why we might want to visit Mars, and planned our own space stations.

Some tough decisions were made regarding what we would need to take.  Next, we entered the Planetarium.  It was exciting to be inside the dome, looking up at the night sky.  We followed the missions of the Space Race, watching rockets take off, moon landings and gazing at the stars – it really felt like we were there with the astronauts!
