Story Telling Week

We have had a super Story Telling week, with lots of activities going on in school. On Tuesday the story teller Chris Bostock visited school and engaged in story telling activities across the school.  The children were thoroughly engaged in the stories that he created with them and we hope that this will help to enthuse the children with their reading and writing.   On Wednesday, Teatre San Frontier, a French theatre company visited school and worked with our Year 5 and 6 children. The play was carried out completely in French and the children had a fantastic time engaging with the actors and understanding how the language can be used. The children  then shared their experience with the whole school.  We also had a fantastic parents into classrooms session with lots of story telling activities going on.  There were puppets, use of fictional lands, verbal story telling and some fantastic sessions where parents were reading with children. We now have ideas from parents about how they would like to see the library develop and we hope to start this project before the Easter holidays. The week was rounded off with Mrs Blair’s class assembly where the children regaled the local tale of the Lambton Worm and showed the story in various forms, including using their own animation. Each of the Year 5 and 6 classes have produced an animation at their visit to Marden City Learning Centre.
